Meet Your Instructor

Barbara Sheldon, MA, CHNC
(she/her)

Barbara's more than twenty years of food expertise come from stringent academic research and scholarship in the area of food dignity, education and leadership. Her private nutrition practice has supported  thousands of clients across the globe from Canada to Italy to  Thailand to the US,  and her boots-on-the-ground culinary training has allowed her to serve and cook with everyone from  communities struggling with food security to high end restaurant clientele, to corporate leaders needing optimal health support to maximize extraordinary, inspired leadership. Her graduate work focused on leadership within food literacy education program design for the LGBTQ2S+ youth community. During her 15 years of clinical practice, she focussed mainly on nutrition and culinary education for women suffering from burnout, and as an educator, she has taught nutrition and holistic culinary education at the college level, and countless hours of  food literacy to children and youth. Chef Barb’s education and training is one of a kind.  Few food leaders can offer the breadth of expertise and wisdom that can support your health and nourishment.

A note from Barb: I am proud to be an ally for the LGBTQ2S+ community and a member of the Trans Affirming Network, providing a safe space for all trans and gender diverse people. I am grateful to live, work, and play on the Treaty 7 Regions of Southern Alberta, and to the people of the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, The Tsuut'ina and Stoney Nakoda Nations, and The Metis Nation (Region 3).
